The following are the goals and objectives of the Eye Care Health Outreach/Intervention Program for the Niger Delta region with aim of addressing the unique healthcare challenges and needs of the local population.
Increase Access to Eye Care Services
Ensure that individuals in remote and underserved areas of the Niger Delta have access to quality eye care services, including vision testing, diagnosis, and treatment.
Prevent and Treat Vision Impairment
Implement preventive measures and provide treatment for common eye conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, refractive errors, and infections, in the Niger Delta population.
Raise Awareness and Promote Eye Health Education
Increase awareness of the importance of eye health and promote eye health education to empower individuals with the importance of regular eye check-ups, early detection, and proper eye care practices
Reduce Blindness and Visual Impairment
Reduce the number of people suffering from blindness and visual impairment in the Niger Delta region through early detection and intervention.
Enhance Capacity of Local Healthcare Providers
Strengthen the skills and knowledge of local healthcare providers to deliver high-quality eye care services.
Advocate for Policy and Infrastructure Improvement
Collaborate with local authorities and stakeholders to advocate for policies that support eye health and improve healthcare infrastructure.
Establish Mobile Eye Clinics
Set up mobile eye clinics that can travel to remote and underserved areas of the Niger Delta, providing vision testing and basic eye care services.
Conduct Vision Screening Programs
Organize vision screening programs in schools, community centers, and workplaces to identify individuals with vision problems and refer them for further assessment and treatment.
Provide Comprehensive Eye Examinations and Treatment

Distribute Eyeglasses and Low-Vision Aids

Train and Empower Local Healthcare Workers
